What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Taking Reading tools off just for abstracts

Postby selahi » Thu Sep 20, 2007 1:49 am

Dear all,

I am trying to take Reading Tools off when a user is viewing abstract but not when actuall artcile is being viewed. I know I can disable RT but that doesn't serve my purpose because it disables the RT totally. I tried to look into templates but couldn't find where /article/view.tpl (which I think renders rt) is being called in /article/article.tpl (which shows the content)... so that I could remove this call or could develop another template without that call to show abstract.

Anyways I actually want to ask how to disable RT only for abstract not for full article view, through changing something in template or hanlder classes?
Best regards,

Salman

Hi Salman,

You'll need to modify pages/article/ArticleHandler.inc.php to accomplish this. Find the line in the "view" function that looks like:
Code: Select all
if (!$journalRt->getEnabled()) {
...and change it to...
Code: Select all
if (!$journalRt->getEnabled() || !$galley) {
