OJS and OAI sets: sections and issues

Postby ozp » Tue Sep 18, 2007 7:40 am

I dont recall where Ive seen this topic (if it was on OJS in an hour, another doc or at the foruns)

Is there a way to choose between ordering the OAI sets as sections or issues of a journal?

We have sections at our journal (articles, reviews) and they appear as sets when I harvest it with the harvester2

Is there a way to make the issues as sets?

Hi ozp,

OJS is currently fixed to use sections as sets; however, if selective harvesting by issue is what you have in mind, you should be able to accomplish something similar by harvesting within a certain range of dates.

Hi,

Sorry to revive this thread, but we would like to know if there is already some way to harvest by issue from OJS by OAI-PMH. We see that the sets are still sections. Is there an easy way to establish sets as issues? Or how is it you Alec say about "accomplish something similar by harvesting within a certain range of dates".

Many thanks.

Hi vlilloh,

OJS doesn't expose issues as sets, unfortunately.

What I meant about dates is more an issue of the harvesting tool rather than OJS. Many harvesters (including ours) permit harvesting by specific date range.

Hi Alec,

Ok. Would planned for the future expose issues as sets? And the OAI-ORE protocol?

Thanks!

Hi vlilloh,

We don't have concrete plans for either, yet. There's already a plugin in OJS that adds more sets to the built-in functionality (the openAIRE plugin) so a similar approach would be pretty straight-forward. As for OAI-ORE, we haven't had much call for it, but we do support SWORD -- perhaps that'll also work for you?

Hi Alec,

Ok. Some time ago we had tested the OpenAIRE plugin with the hope that added the issues setSpecs, but it certainly adds another. We will investigate about getting a similar plugin to add issues setSpecs. Ok about OAI-ORE.

What happens is we are looking for the best export/import from OJS to DSpace at our university, and Sword has never worked.

We are now trying with the export/import files.

Many thanks.

Hi villoh,

I would suggest trying to figure out what's happening with the Sword plugin; I wrote that with DSpace as my test endpoint.
