What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Changing issue identification

A bunch of related questions on issue identification:

1. I have a current issue (published), with issue identification set to "Title only". I'd like to change this to "Volume, Year". How do I do this?

2. I'd really like to change it, and set all subsequent issues (plus earlier issues to be imported) to "Volume, Year, Title", but this isn't an option on the list. Is this possible? If so, how?

3. How does "issue identification" relate to how the issue is identified on the journal front page, and the sort of headings that appear when I view the issue? Ideally, I'd like each issue to be identified in tables of contents and at the tops of pages as "Volume XX (200X) Papers from the ... congress", uniformly.

At the moment something like that appears at the top of the issue page for the issue identified as "Title only", but only its title and not the number appears in the list of issues on the journal front page. The new issue I'm preparing for publication, which at the moment is set to be identified by "Volume, Year" doesn't have its title on the issue page.

Hi barnes,

To change a published issue's identification, go into Back Issues as Editor, choose the issue, and enter the identification information on its Issue Data page.

If the Volume, Number, Year etc. settings don't give you fine-grained enough control over issue identification, use Title Only and include volume number etc. in the title, formatted as you like.

Hi Alex,

Thanks for that. I didn't realise that the current issue was also considered a back issue.
