What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:
1. Search the forum
. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page
or from our Google Custom Search
, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend
searching the forum for said error.
2. Check the FAQ
to see if your question or error has already been resolved.
3. Post a question
, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion
subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development
Is there a way to assign manuscript numbers? I want to bring our journal over, and maintain the same manuscript numbering system (eg. #059ms). So I want to input the active, most recent manuscripts first, and then put in the old ones later. So, I want to assign the manuscripts numbers, not just have them auto-assigned as I input them. Also, is there a way to back-date submissions? Thanks,

The manuscript numbers are actually database IDs, automatically generated by MySQL (or PostgreSQL), and as such this is more of a database administration question than an OJS question; however, tinkering with these IDs will be a lot of work and I'd suggest simply keeping a map of the old manuscript numbers to the new manuscript numbers during the transition period.
