Forum rules
What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

DB Error: Duplicate entry '‘

I've just uploaded a series of articles for a new issue of a journal. It is a journal that does all the reviewing outside of OJS, so I've just uploaded the files and used the exspedite funtion to skip most of the process. For all articles exept one there has been no problems.

The problem is that when I upload the galley file I get this error:
DB Error: Duplicate entry '‘' for key 2

at a page on this address:
http://ej.lib.cbs.dk/index.php/sats/edi ... LayoutFile

I find it odd as it was not a problem to upload the file in the first place (in the submission).

The new issue has to be published tomorrow (in 10 hours from now) can anybody help?

Hi kurtmathiesen,

It sounds to me like a character set problem between PHP, the galley, and the DBMS. First, try making sure you're using the connection_charset and database_charset options in your config.inc.php file. You might also be able to patch in some work-arounds for problems like this that have not yet been released; see http://pkp.sfu.ca/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=2324.

Also make sure that you're saving your HTML documents using the UTF-8 encoding.

There are several patches you'll need to apply to get this change in place:
  • http://pkp.sfu.ca/cvs/cvsweb.cgi/ojs2/classes/search/ArticleSearchDAO.inc.php.diff?r1=1.26;r2=1.27
  • http://pkp.sfu.ca/cvs/cvsweb.cgi/ojs2/classes/search/ArticleSearchIndex.inc.php.diff?r1=1.21;r2=1.22
