GoogleScholarPlugin - The XML page cannot be displayed...

Postby DavidRad » Wed Apr 11, 2007 7:36 am

After successfully configuring the wonderful Google Scholar Gateway Plugin, I visited the directory at: ... olarPlugin

which results in this error:

The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

Cannot have multiple DOCTYPE declarations. Error processing resource '

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"

It seems obvious that the DOCTYPE is incorrect, I guess. Where can I begin to correct this problem?

Thanks for a great app!!!

Hi David,

That's not a bug -- IE doesn't know what to do with the generated XML file. It's intended for submission to Google, who will take care of indexing the journal.

Note that you may want to upgrade to a newer version of the Google Scholar plugin; I'd suggest installing the most recent version of plugins/gateways/googleScholar/GoogleScholarPlugin.inc.php from http://pkp.sfu.ca/cvs/cvsweb.cgi/ojs2/plugins/gateways/googleScholar/GoogleScholarPlugin.inc.php.

If you want to see what the XML file looks like, Netscape (and presumably Firefox) displays it nicely.
