Forum rules
What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Thesis abstracts plugin

Where can I get more detail on this plugin as we would like to use it?

Will the published abstracts be searchable via the standard search in OJS?

Hi Pierre,

The thesis abstracts plugin ships with OJS 2.1.1; if you log into the Journal Manager's page and click on "System Plugins", you'll be able to enable it. Let me know if you'd like more information.

Hi Alec

We really would like to use this plugin

I have tried the plugin, but find it rather unusable at the moment for the following reasons:

1. The thesis abstracts are not searchable through the OJS "search" facility - one has to scroll through the list to find what you look for
2. There is no sorting filter facility as with the other OJS lists
3. The automated e-mails to the supervisor and the student are not controlable (i.e. to skip if one wants to)

If my interpretation is correct, the plugin is rather useless. Is there any way we can modify /improve these deficiencies?

Reragds

Hi Pierre,

I think you'll find that plugins are in general less flexible than the core OJS codebase, as they're often contributed to us by someone trying to solve a particular need that doesn't necessarily apply to the community at large. I'll pass your feedback along to the plugin developer, and if you have developer time to contribute, we'd be happy to accept a patch for inclusion.
