What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Very small problem with Reviews section

Postby Chris_A » Sun Feb 04, 2007 5:47 pm

Hi,

I've been uploading issues of various journals and generally everything is going fine. The problem I have is that the XML I use creates a seperate Reviews section in the issues contents list. When I add an issue the reviews display in the contents and there is a link to the pdf, but when I click on it, it only takes me to a blank screen.

The code I am using is:

<section>
<title locale="">Reviews</title>
<abbrev locale="">BOOK</abbrev>
<article>
<title>Reviews</title>
<pages>227-231</pages>
<date_published>2006-06-01</date_published>

<galley><label>PDF</label>

<file><href src="http://www.equinoxjournals.com/ojs/pdfs/pomh.1.2.227.pdf" mime_type="application/pdf" /></file>

</galley>
</article>
</section>

The page I am taken when I click on the link is formatted thus:

Hi Chris,

This is probably caused by a file permissions problem when trying to create the file in your "files" directory. Make sure that this directory and all of its contents can be erad and written to by both the web server user (typically nobody or www-data) *and* the user you're using to import the XML (i.e. if you're doing it via SSH using the external importexport.php tool).

Double-check in the Editor's interface to see if the PDFs have been properly uploaded under each submission's Editing page, under Layout, in the Galleys list.

Hi Alec,

I think this problem is now solved, thanks for your help.

I have one other small query related to the Reviews Section.

I'd like my Reviews to be assigned to the category of "Book Reviews", not "Reviews" as they are now.

At the moment my XML reads

<title locale="">Reviews</title>
<abbrev locale="">BOOK</abbrev>

Is it a case of changing one or other of these items (Say <title locale="">Book Reviews</title>?)

Solved the problem by exporting an issue to XML and looking at the result:

<section>
<title locale="">Editorial</title>
<abbrev locale="">Ed</abbrev>

<article>
<title>Editor's Introduction</title>

<date_published>2007-02-10</date_published>
