What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Changing emails

Postby jugriffin » Thu Feb 01, 2007 10:10 am

This message is somewhat related to: viewtopic.php?t=1575

I'd like the EDITOR_ASSIGN email template to include {$reviewDueDate}.

I believe I need to make PHP changes, but where can I locate this function?

Also, I would like to change the REVIEW_CONFIRM, REVIEW_DECLINE and REVIEW_COMPLETE email templates - to remove the Section Editor email address in the To field and replace it with the Editor email address - in each of these templates. I would also like to delete the Editor email address from the CC fields. Can someone point me to where to make PHP changes for this to happen?

Thank you!

Hi Julie,

There is a reviewDueDate associated with each review, and generally editors are assigned before reviews are assigned, so this information probably won't be available at the time the EDITOR_ASSIGN email is composed.

However, you can find the variable assignments for these emails as follows:
  • EDITOR_ASSIGN: classes/submission/editor/EditorAction.inc.php approx. line 82
  • REVIEW_CONFIRM and REVIEW_DECLINE: classes/submission/reviewer/ReviewerAction.inc.php approx. line 98
  • REVIEW_COMPLETE: classes/submission/reviewer/ReviewerAction.inc.php approx. line 180
If you need to find additional ones, search the PHP code for the symbolic name of the email (e.g. REVIEW_COMPLETE); you'll find it in the constructor for an ArticleMailTemplate or MailTemplate object, such as:
Code: Select all
$email = &new ArticleMailTemplate($reviewerSubmission, 'REVIEW_COMPLETE');
The variables are assigned to this $email object using the assignParams function.

Hi Alec,

Thank you for this information. I've tested making changes in these locations and haven't had much success. Specifically, I changed
Code: Select all
$assignedEditors = $email->ccAssignedEditors($reviewerSubmission->getArticleId());
$reviewingSectionEditors = $email->toAssignedReviewingSectionEditors($reviewerSubmission->getArticleId());

to
Code: Select all
$assignedEditors = $email->toAssignedEditors($reviewerSubmission->getArticleId());
$reviewingSectionEditors = $email->ccAssignedReviewingSectionEditors($reviewerSubmission->getArticleId());

and when I tested the email link it opened a blank white page. I noticed changing the assignParams only changes the body of the email. Do you know what the problem might be?

Thank you!
Julie
