Forum rules
What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

I would like to ask you how to post the old issues that are not supposed to be submitted by the authors to the open journal systems.

I can not find the way to upload the PDF files to the system and create the old issues. this instructions might have been posted somewhere but unfortunately i couldnt find them. I would be grateful if you could please help me.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Juan,

Author metadata is kept separate from the user account information of the person who submitted the article, so if you have a Journal Manager account, simply enroll it as an Author and run through the submission process. See http://pkp.sfu.ca/support/forum/viewtopic.php?t=779 for some discussion of this. You'll probably need to apply a patch to your OJS 2.1.1 installation -- see http://pkp.sfu.ca/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=2346.

Hi Alec,

Thank you for immediate reply. I followed all the indications on your previous e mail in order to post the old issues through the submission process. But as you said the expedite option didnt work and i got this error message :

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /hsphere/local/home/marcoele/marcoele.com/ojs/classes/submission/editor/EditorAction.inc.php on line 130

I am sorry but i have to confess that i do not have any idea about how to apply the patch you suggested. Am i supposed to copy and paste the coding found on the patch link ? if so to where?

In any case if i do not do the patch process i ll still be able to post the issues i think ?

I would be really pleased if you could help me about the subject.

Cheers!

Juan

Hi Juan,

If you have SSH access to your server, and your server is a UNIX-like server, follow these steps:
  • Download the patch into your OJS installation directory.
  • Run the following from the same directory:
    Code: Select all
    patch -p1 --dry-run < name-of-patch-file
  • If it worked (i.e. you don't receive any error messages or prompts), run it again without the --dry-run option.

Hi Juan,

See http://pkp.sfu.ca/support/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1580 for information on the Reading Tools problem.

Are the missing PDFs from articles you uploaded before the first patch mentioned in this thread was applied? If so, you'll probably need to go into each article's Editing page, click Edit beside the PDF entry under the Galleys section of Layout, and re-upload the file. I'd also recommend checking your error log to see if there are any helpful messages.
