What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Good Install but get Blank Page

Postby agentsmith » Wed Jan 17, 2007 4:18 pm

I just created a new installation of OJS 2.1.1. I did the automatic install, everything went along smoothly. Now when i try to go to the home page (ojs/index.php) i get a completely blank page. The config file seemed to have been updated properly as far as i can tell.

I am using PHP5 on solaris10 and we have a MySQL 5 on different machine. I checked the database and the OJS database was created along with all the tables.
I have tried turning Debugging on in the config but i still get a blank page.
What am I missing here?

Thanks.

Hi agentsmith,

A blank page usually indicates a PHP error. Set display_errors to E_ALL, either in your php.ini configuration file, or in index.php using ini_set('display_errors', E_ALL);

This will probably give you enough details to correct the problem.

Hi all,

FYI, the above code came from another posting in the forum at http://pkp.sfu.ca/support/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1666 and works around a bug in certain versions of Zend Optimizer.
