What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

edit the title metatag of OJS home page

Postby nelson » Fri Jan 12, 2007 11:11 am

Hallo,
still going to customize the general home page, the all journals container, now the problem is:

the metatag "title" shows always: Open Journal System

I want to try to change, but in "header.tpl", I find:
<title>{$pageTitleTranslated}</title>

ho can I change the value of this variable?

do I have to change this value in localizaton files?
<message key="common.openJournalSystems">Open Journal Systems</message>

tnx
Alf

Hi Alf,

This is the default title used when no other title is specified. It's set in classes/template/TemplateManager.inc.php:
Code: Select all
$this->assign('pageTitle', 'common.openJournalSystems');
The best way to change it is probably to add a new locale string, e.g. in locale/en_US/locale.xml, with the default title you want; then change the line of code quoted above to refer to the new locale string.

thanks a lot Alec,

I thought to use ths way, but I had a doubt, because, as I experienced with other CMS, addling lines to localizations is not useful when upgrades income.

If I found an alternative can I post something like a tutorial on this forum?

Hi Nelson,

Yes, a how-to would be useful. If you've customized your installation of OJS, you can typically upgrade most easily using the patch method (described in docs/UPGRADE). Depending on the nature of your customizations and the degree to which OJS has changed since the release you were previously using, you can typically upgrade a customized installation painlessly.
