Scheduling-Published date value not showing in an article

Scheduling-Published date value not showing in an article

Hi,
We have just upgraded to OJS 2.4.4.1. I discovered now that when I go to “Home > User > Submission > #XXX > (as an editor) that some of the articles with “Published” date-value were not displaying/showing (see the attachment file).

I have searched OJS db tables to find out where these values are stored, but not successful. Which table stores the “Published” date-value? Or is it a bug in 2.4.4.1.?

Hi Obi,

The publication date is in the published_articles table. This field last underwent significant changes in the upgrade to OJS 2.3.5 -- some assumptions were made in earlier releases about that field, often leading to back-issues being given a date_published corresponding to the date they were added to OJS, which was often not correct. In the 2.3.5 upgrade we attempted to detect those and set the date_published to null, rather than providing potentially incorrect data to upstream data consumers (particularly Google Scholar).

Thanks Alec for your explanations.
Some of our published articles stored at the table, "published_articles" have access_status 0 or 1 . What is the difference between between 0 and 1?

Those constants are defined in classes/article/PublishedArticle.inc.php:

define('ARTICLE_ACCESS_ISSUE_DEFAULT', 0);
define('ARTICLE_ACCESS_OPEN', 1);
  • ARTICLE_ACCESS_ISSUE_DEFAULT means that the article's subscription status should be taken from the issue it's published in
  • ARTICLE_ACCESS_OPEN means that the article should be considered open access, regardless of whether it appears in a subscription issue.
