What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

incomplete lists of submissions assigned to 'Me'

Postby elt » Wed May 07, 2014 8:52 am

Hi, we recently upgraded from 2.3.8 to 2.4.3. I used the patch file, and the web-based script for the database; the upgrade went well, and no errors were reported.
Since the upgrade, on the User > Editor > Submissions page, lists of submissions (either in Review or in Editing) assigned to 'Me' are either empty or incomplete. We have editors who have multiple roles: some are also Section Editors, some are also Journal Managers, some are also Copy Editors, etc. etc., and most articles are assigned to more than one editor. I can't find any common configuration of roles and assignments which explains why one article gets listed and other doesn't. However, I did notice that the edit_assignments table is joined three times in the SQL generated by EditorSubmissionsDAO.inc.php, first with a table alias of 'e', then with an alias of 'ea' and finally with an alias of 'ea2'. Currently line 326 of EditorSubmissionDAO.inc.php has:
$searchSql .= ' AND ea.editor_id = ?';
If this is changed to
$searchSql .= ' AND e.editor_id = ?';
then I seem to get accurate results. But would this change break something else ? Maybe the real problem lies elsewhere?
We are using mySQL 5.0 and PHP 5.1.6 on RHEL5.9
Many thanks for any suggestions you can offer!

Hi elt,

I suspect this is bug #8595, which is fixed in OJS 2.4.4.

Great! So I can make a patch to apply the change mentioned in comment 11 : http://pkp.sfu.ca/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=8595#c11 and that should fix it.
Many thanks for the fast reply!
