What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

Article Template uploaded unavailable in Layout editor page

Postby drvenkatesanj » Sun Apr 27, 2014 11:30 pm

Dear Friends,
We uploaded a Article Template page in Microsoft Word and uploaded during journal setup process.
This file is not available at section editor page under Layout Editing option. (OJS configuration- section editors to act as copyeditors and layout editors).
Also the layout instructions entered in the box provided for the purpose under set up is also not loading.

Can any one suggest me to solve these two problems.

Sincerely,
VJ.

Hi VJ,

I've added the template listing to the [section] editor's Editing page; previously it was only visible to Layout Editors. See http://pkp.sfu.ca/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=8719 for a patch.

When you say layout instructions aren't loading, do you mean that they aren't displayed? Or that you get an error or something else?

Dear Alec,
When we click Layout instruction, a pop up window opens and it displays login page instead of layout instructions entered during setup process.
Initially when the popup opens the URL is
"http://www.vensel.org/index.php/jphchem/sectionEditor/instructions/layout"
that quickly changes to
"http://www.vensel.org/index.php/jphchem/sectionEditor/index"

Also from author page when we click layout comment a popup opens where we can enter the comments. When the comments are entered and while clicking save/save and email it displays a error message
"DB Error: Unknown column 'Array' in 'where clause'
Please suggest me to rectify these problems.

Sincerely,
VJ.

Dear Alec,
I can reach the link for patch
https://github.com/pkp/ojs/commit/16c6f ... 0cf6e37034

Can you guide me how to apply it to our OJS installation.

Sincerely,
VJ.

Hi VJ,

You can add ".diff" to the URL of any github commit link to make it into a patch file. The above link would be...
https://github.com/pkp/ojs/commit/16c6f ... 37034.diff

To apply this to your install, you need to use the standard GNU patch tool. It's available on pretty much any *NIX or MacOSX system, and can be downloaded and installed on others e.g. Windows. There are many resources online describing how to use this, e.g. http://icu-project.org/download/patch.html.

Dear Alec,
Can we directly apply these patch to the OJS installed on Web?
I am too new to these tasks, If "how-to" page for this is available, that will be too helpful for people like me.
Sincerely,
VJ.

Hi VJ,

There are lots of resources online describing how to apply patches; see e.g. this one. The only specific difference is that we tend to distribute patches that require the -p1 option when applying.
