Forum rules
What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Install problem

Postby Arnd » Tue Dec 17, 2013 8:37 am

Hello World,

I have been asked to install OJS on a shared hosting webspace at 1&1.

I am an absolute newbie with this system.

After uploading and trying to launch the installer, I receive this browser message:

"Fehler: Umleitungsfehler

Die aufgerufene Website leitet die Anfrage so um, dass sie nie beendet werden kann."

Roughly translated: This website forwards the request in a way it can never be completed.

Strangely, the url is changed to: http://[our domain]/index.php/index/install - that URL doesnt seem to make any sense.

Alas, we do not have shell terminal access on the server.

Can somebody help?

Thanks a lot!

Best

Arnd

Thanks for the hint, but I still have no idea how to move on. The thread you pointed me to seems to refer to another issue. In my case the config.inc.php is not even written yet, since the installer does not start, so it makes no sense to modify it?

Thanks

Arnd

EDIT: It does make sense, now the installer starts.

Hi Arnd,

Have you tried turning on disable_path_info in your config.inc.php configuration file as per that link? Even though you haven't yet written your database configuration etc. to the config file, it's still used for some settings, e.g. URL generation.
