What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:
1. Search the forum
. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page
or from our Google Custom Search
, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend
searching the forum for said error.
2. Check the FAQ
to see if your question or error has already been resolved.
3. Post a question
, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion
subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development
I am a novic when it comes to XML and how to correctly import past issues of our journal. Right now the data is in an Access database and I am hoping to export into XML and then import this file via the Plug-In.
I have reviewed the information at doc/IMPORTEXPORT and that was somewhat helpful. I have also reviewed some previous posts to this forum.
I am still left with these questions:
1) Where is the OJS 2.1 version of the XML definition file?
2) How will I use these definition files to make other programs (e.g. Access) export in the correct manner.
Thanks for your help.

It's unlikely you'll ever get Access to export in the format you want; you may be able to write an XSL stylesheet to convert from the Access format to the OJS format, but that would take quite a bit of technical know-how. Most users either write the XML manually or write a quick Perl script (or equivalent) to generate the proper output from another system.
The DTD for the import tool is available in the OJS package at plugins/importexport/native/native.dtd.
