New install - unable to specifiy MySQL database host name

Postby Austin » Fri Nov 08, 2013 9:55 am

I've just installed Openmonograph Press and am now trying to configure through the web form. I want to specify a MySQL database on a different server, but my entry is being ignored and the installer is trying to contact a MySQL process on the local server. This will not work because MySQL is not running on localhost.

I hope I'm not missing something obvious here. I've checked the FAQ and can't find anything relating to this.

The error message is below (hostname redacted):

================
Errors occurred during installation:

A database error has occurred: Access denied for user 'ompadmin'@'<hostname>' (using password: YES)

Hi Austin,

Is this when you submit the configuration form, or something else? Is the "Installed" parameter in config.inc.php set to On or Off?

It's when I submit the configuration form, on the "OMP Installation" page.

"installed" is set to Off.

I found the source of this - the DBA made a mistake in setting up the database. Sorry for the false report :oops:
