Problem with envelope sender

Postby memoemg » Thu Sep 05, 2013 2:53 pm

Hi all! I have a multiple journal OJS installation v.2.4.2

I want for each journal, to be able to send their mails from the Principal Contact address. But all the mail is beeing sent from the default_envelope_sender. Why could this be?

I have enabled the envelope sender in my config.inc.php

; Allow envelope sender to be specified
; (may not be possible with some server configurations)
allow_envelope_sender = On

I'm using smtp_server = ssl://smtp.gmail.com

Thanks.

Hi memoemg,

The problem is not with your OJS configuration but with your use of gmail as an SMTP server. It automatically sets the sender identity to that of the account you've configured for SMTP. If you want more control over the sender, you'll have to use a different SMTP server.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply.

So If I install sendmail or postfix, I have to configure it somehow it sends the mail from the correct address or will it be automatic?

Hi memoemg,

It will be automatic. (If you install a local MTA, you won't even have to use SMTP configuration -- it'll get delivered locally with PHP's "mail" function.)
