Change a single custom DOI

Postby HRiegler » Tue Jun 18, 2013 3:22 am

Dear Support Team,

I know, one is not supposed to change a DOI once it is assigned to an object and the OJS is designed to adhere to this principle. However, I accidentally assigned a wrong DOI. We use custom DOIs for our journal and every time I publish a new article (maybe once a week), I enter the DOI manually to the Metadata of the article. Yesterday I omitted three digits, so now a wrong DOI is displayed at the article page, while the correct one is printed in the pdf and registered with Datacite. How can I correct this wrong DOI? I guess I have to do it directly in the database (read: tell our system admin to do it, since I do not have the privileges). Where would one find the entry which has to be changed?

Looking forward to your answer,

Hi Heike,

You don't mention what version of OJS you're using but if it is a recent version all DOIs for articles are stored in the article_settings table. You'd need to find the record with the article_id corresponding to the article in question, with a setting_name column of 'pub-id::doi'. Just update that record and set the setting_value to what you want.
