Is http://harvesters.sfu.ca/demo being maintained?

Postby ambs » Wed Feb 24, 2010 12:27 pm

I am confused about http://harvesters.sfu.ca/demo. Is it just a demo, or it is a demo thank is trying to offer a service to the community?

If it is the first, probably it would be great to make it clear in some place other than the URL :)

If it is the second case, when is the harvester run? I added Linguamática some time ago and no articles/records were imported...

Thanks ;)

Hi Alberto,

I believe the answer to your questions is "yes", sort of. :D The Harvester is a demo, and we have not made any effort to monitor or otherwise evaluate the collections and records added to it. But just the same, it does have quite a bit of real information stored in it. We've talked internally about what to do with it here and there, and chances are we'll take it down in the near future; but we're not sure just yet if we'll try replacing it with another curated harvester for specifically OxS content or not.

Rightnow, the page http://harvesters.sfu.ca/demo/ say "This OHS demonstration site is currently not available." Does anyone have other demo. I want to see before installation :(

Hi alexrianz,

There are many examples of OHS online; for example, see http://asiajol.info/ (which isn't the newest release but is fairly close to what you can expect). Of course, you won't be able to explore the administration side of it.
