PKP Harvester portuguese translation

Hello all,

The System Development area at IBICT is now working on remodeling and fixing the harvesting issues with the OASIS.BR project.
I've made the "translation" available, although incomplete, to my test harvester and it is not detecting Portuguese.

I've created the locale files, edited registry/locales.xml accordingly, added the e-mail templates locale in dbscripts, as well as the plugins and the main locale file.

What am I missing?

Hi Ramón,

Have you made the translation active using the Site Administrator's "Languages" page? If it's not showing up there, you may have a file permissions problem in your cache directory; try deleting all .php files there and making sure the permissions are set on the directory.

I cleared all cache files (using rm -Rf harvester/cache/*.php).
Nothing happened.

Hi Ramón,

And the Portuguese language doesn't appear anywhere on the Site Admin's "Languages" page? Are you sure you changed the heading on the main locale file (locale/pt_BR/locale.xml) so that it no longer reads en_US and US English?

If none of these helps, please send me the locale files and I'll test locally.

Hello Alec,

There were indeed some problems with the locale files, regarding the naming convention.
I managed to fix that, but now I need to find an illegal character:

Hello Alec,

Somehow a closing ">" for the <locale> tag of one file was missing.
Now I have to fix some of the translations.
I used VI, but it didn't save as UTF-8, so some characters are missing, but now the Portuguese locale is available.
As soon as it's finished, I'll send it for approval.

I sent OCS's locale files, but it's still unavailable for download....

Hi Ramon,

Just a quick note re: our language pages: They're being updated as we speak, hopefully to be much clearer in the future. In the meantime I'll put the OCS Portuguese file up right away.

Hello PKP Team,

Thank you for posting the OCS unofficial Translation. We receive lot's of requests for it.

I have 2 questions:
1 - On IE6, the "until" the first select field options are broken. On Firefox everything's fine.
Here's what happens:

Março (March) is not being printed correctly, and I think this is what's breading the select.
How do I fix the locale problem in Apache?

2 - I need to run Harvester under an Iframe in Joomla!. I've managed to resize the Iframe via Javascript. Now I need to create the search pages without all the info, just the plain forms. Any suggestions as to what files I need to copy and rename? or just creating new templates with the forms will be just fine?

Hello all,

Glad to inform that I managed to "integrate" PKP Harvester with Joomla!.
The changes where mostly in template/common/header.tpl, removing CSS calls and unnecessary page items (like menu, info and sidebar).
The harvesting will be done by another PKP Harvester installation, probably running via Virtual Machine, so it can be executed from any XP box.

I tried creating different pages for the search, but it became too difficult to solve the problems when objects and variables where already declared in other pages.

Hello Alec,

It's not available yet, but it's not really "integration".
It's just using Joomla!'s wrapper component to display the search forms, then modified the templates/common/header.tpl replacing the CSS files for Joomla's and removing the unnecessary content (sidebar, login, etc).
There will be a virtual machine on a pendrive, to run the actual harvesting from another machine (which could be any machine!) to relieve the server and allow the managers to run the harvesting from wherever they want to.
The OASISBR Repository is online, but not working well as you can see.
The project managers are running latest tests so that we hope to relaunch this week the updated version.

We had to tune up MySQL, though. The current harvester version is running a few strange queries that slow down the server, unnecessarily.
Since we'll update the software, we'll wait to see if it's a version problem or some modification made by the previously hired consultant.
