The Reading Tools are a set of resources for journal readers to use in order to enhance the journal content. They can be roughly broken up into two categories:
- Functional tools: These are different types of functions that can be performed on the journal content, from downloading a citation to emailing the author or forwarding the article on to an interested third party. These can be enabled in the Reading Tool Options page.
- Related Items tools: These are sets of external resources, such as Google searches and more domain-specific search engines, that can be used to find related content based on the particular discipline of a journal.
