Hi !

I work on PKP since 3 months, I m not a big master !
I succeed to transform the design of the interface ( to see the old http://www.portaildupatrimoineoral.org/ and the new http://alpha.portaildupatrimoineoral.or ... .php/index)
The new "alpha" is a transfert to the new version of PKP (it's not me who i did it)
On the new version, there aren't the 2 languages (French and english) the main is in english, (only the text (of the pages home and about) who I can change on the site settings is in french)
I tried to create the files necessary like is write in the guide "Technical reference" in page 46 Traduction harvester2.
But, nothing..
Do you have some advices ?

Thanks !!

Claire

Hi Smecher,

I'm not sure to have understood well.. but my sitesetting is in english too.
I succeed to create new block in my sitesetting to introduce my text in a second language. But I can't write anythings in this block.

Sorry if wasn't the question ? in this case, can me explain again ?

Thanks !

Hi Claire,

Sorry, my directions weren't particularly helpful -- they were for OJS, not OHS.

It looks like the modification you've made to registry/locales.xml has broken the file; use an XML validator to check that your file is valid XML after editing it. You can use e.g. http://www.xmlvalidation.com, or the xmllint tool, available for most platforms.

Hello,

When i check my file registry/locales.xml on http://www.xmlvalidation.com/
The problem is this ligne <!DOCTYPE locales SYSTEM "../lib/pkp/dtd/locales.dtd">
"The markup declarations contained or pointed to by the document type declaration must be well-formed."
But i don't undestand what i mean, a problem between dtd and xml ? ?

Sorry I forgot to explain you what it's appears in my back office.
In my back office,
in Site management, in Layout, my language toogle is in a right sidebar but it doesn't display. I don't know why ?

in Site management, in Language there is :
Language Settings
Primary locale : english
This will be the default language for the site.
Supported locales : English
Select all locales to support on the site. If multiple locales are not selected, the language toggle menu will not appear and extended language settings will not be available.
Save Cancel

Install Languages
Installed Locales
English (en_US) Reload Locale
Install New Locales
Select any additional locales to install support for in this system. See the Open Harvester Systems documentation for information on adding support for new languages.
No additional locales are available for installation.

I don't have a button to install New Languages is it normal ?

Thank you ! and sorry for my difficults on PKP !

Hi Claire,

Your registry/locales.xml contains your additional line for French...
Code: Select all
<locale key="fr_FR" name="Francais"iso639-1="fr"/>
That's invalid XML and the XML parser is having trouble loading it. It should be something like...
Code: Select all
<locale key="fr_FR" name="Francais" iso639-1="fr"/>
(Note the missing space in the top version.)

Hi Smecher,

Thanks you to show me the errors. But it doesn't work anymore..

In the Chapter Translating Harvester2 , page 47 inTechnicalReference PKP
it's write :
The only critical files that need translation for the system to function properly are found in
      locale/en_US,
      dbscripts/xml/data/locale/en_US,
      and registry/locale/en_US.
New locales must also be added to the file registry/locales.xml, after which they can be installed in the system through the site administration web interface.

locale/en_US,
I have my files box (en_US) and (fr_FR) with 2 files inside
emailTemplates.xml
locale.XML, is it ok ?

dbscripts/xml/data/locale/en_US,
I have only a file in this file : email_templates_data.xml, is it normal ?

registry/locale/en_US
there aren't files box (en_US) and (fr_FR)
I have 5 files in (registry) :
registry/crosswalks.xml
registry/emailTemplates.xml
registry/locales.xml
registry/SchemaMap.xml
registry/siteSettings.xml

Is it normal or it's missing files ?

What's I noted, it is the same things in the old version of my http://www.portaildupatrimoine oral.com.

Each files in http://www.xmlvalidation.com/ are the same problem, it is this ligne :
<!DOCTYPE locales SYSTEM "../lib/pkp/dtd/locales.dtd">
It's write "The markup declarations contained or pointed to by the document type declaration must be well-formed."

Thanks you for your help..
Do you know an other site PKP who is manage by french people whose I could exchange about my problems ?

Bye

Claire

Hi Claire,

Can you write the paths of the French translation files? I'm not sure I'm following the specifics of your description.

The XML validation website is having trouble because the XML files refer to local file paths for the DTD file; I'm not specifically familiar with that validator, but it might be possible to upload a DTD along with the XML file; otherwise, perhaps try using another validator.
