Hi guarav,

When the Harvester serves up a blank page, it's always an indication that a PHP error has occurred; depending on your PHP configuration, these errors might not be displayed. Either check your error log to see what the message was, or insert this near the top of index.php (outside of the comments):

ini_set('display_errors', E_ALL);

Try again and see what the error message is.

Hi Guarav,

Do you mean how do you load the MySQL extension in PHP? This is done in php.ini, and will be slightly different depending on whether you're using a Windows server or a *NIX server and depending on how your server is configured. You'll need to un-comment or add a line like the following in php.ini:
Code: Select all
extension=mysql.so
...making sure that this extensino exists in your extensions folder, as configured elsewhere in php.ini.

I'm facing the same problem.

I'm using:
Windows XP SP2 IIS5.0
PHP 5.1.4
MySql 4.1.20

When I click the install button , it goes to a blank page with url-"http://localhost/OJS/index.php/index/install/install" .

No addtional action.

WHY??????

So I added "ini_set('display_errors', E_ALL); " into the index.php file .

-------------------------------------------
<?php

/**
* index.php
*
* Copyright (c) 2003-2004 The Public Knowledge Project
* Distributed under the GNU GPL v2. For full terms see the file docs/COPYING.
*
* Front controller for OJS site. Loads required files and dispatches requests to the appropriate handler.
*
* $Id: index.php,v 1.14 2005/11/26 19:45:33 alec Exp $
*/

/**
* Handle a new request.
*/ini_set('display_errors', E_ALL);
function handleRequest()............
------------------------------------------------------------

But no any error messages displayed.

WHY????

Hi guchao,

Did you follow the above advice regarding loading the MySQL extension? This is usually the cause of problems like the one you experience, especially when no error messages are displayed.
