What to do if you have a technical problem with OCS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved. Please note that this FAQ is OJS-centric, but most issues are applicable to both platforms.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OCS Conference Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OCS Development subforum.

Galley file label not recognized (DOCX)

Postby ramon » Fri Nov 18, 2011 5:52 am

Hello all,

Although it shouldn't be used as a publishing format, a conference I helped implement OCS for has some DOCX files as galleys.
However, the label is not being recognized as DOCX, adding the "Untitled" label instead.
I asked the support to check the mime_type configurations and they said everything was according to Debian setup.

Searching for the mime_types, I found that there is Operating System mime file configuration and an Apache mime file configuration.
Which one should be configured correctly to fix this problem? Or OJS does not support DOCX as galley labels (unlikely, but it doesn't hurt to ask...)?

Hey Ramon,

Looking through the code, it seems as though you get labels for HTML galleys, PDF, Postscript, XML, Audio, and Slideshow (for powerpoint). These labels are set in PaperGalleyForm.inc.php by looking at the uploaded file type returned by PaperFileManager (which subclasses FileManager). If none of these labels apply, the "Untitled" label is used for the galley display.

Michael has done a lot of work on this, and some of these patches may be useful.

Let us know how that works out.
