Forum rules
What to do if you have a technical problem with OCS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved. Please note that this FAQ is OJS-centric, but most issues are applicable to both platforms.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OCS Conference Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OCS Development subforum.

Redirect to current conference

Postby edithlin » Thu Apr 24, 2008 3:20 am

Hi

How can I redirect the conference web site front page to the current conference, say:
http://edith.com/conference/index.php/CONF/CURRCONF/

I've tried to edit the pages\index\IndexHandler.inc.php file and it's work partially since I still able to access the site level by
http://edith.com/conference/index.php/index/index/login
http://edith.com/conference/index.php/i ... er/account

I have a workaround which is modify the url function in Request.inc.php file. But before making such changes, I would like to see if you have any better ideas.

Thanks

Edith

Hi Edith,

There's a conference redirect option available as Site Admin -- just log in, visit the Site Admin's User Home, and take a look under Site Settings. You'll have the option of redirecting the site to one conference in particular.

Cheers,
James

This doesn't block user's access by typing following URL directly.
http://edith.com/conference/index.php/index/index/login

I've modified the TemplateManager.inc.php eventually.

Anyway, thank you for your reply.

Hi Edith,

To clarify: have you already modified TemplateManager.inc.php to block that URL, or are you looking for further advice? There would be a small issue in totally blocking that and similiar URLs: the Site Administrator still needs access to them to administer the site as a whole (make new conferences, etc.).

Also, would you be able to give a bit more detail as to why you'd like to further restrict general site access?

Thanks,
James

Dear James

Thanks for your sincere advice. I use OCS for one scheduled conference only. Hence, the main conference page seems to be redundant (at least my boss has this thought).

Yes, I've updated TemplateManager.inc.php but with a $isUserLoggedIn checking, so admin still have access to site admin sections after login.

It'd be good if you can consider to add this setting in a later version.

Thanks

Edith

Hi Edith,

Many thanks for your response. Would you be willing to provide your changes in a patch format? I can forward them on to the team. Alternatively, you are always welcome to make a report in our bug tracker, along with an accompanying patch:

Any contribution you have would be most welcome.

Thanks,
James
