Submission Types

Are you responsible for making OCS work -- installing, upgrading, migrating or troubleshooting? Do you think you've found a bug? Post in this forum.

What to do if you have a technical problem with OCS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved. Please note that this FAQ is OJS-centric, but most issues are applicable to both platforms.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OCS Conference Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OCS Development subforum.

I see your point. We've filed a Bugzilla entry describing an extension of the single/multiple distinction that should support more types; see http://pkp.sfu.ca/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=2919 for details. You'll have to find a compromise in the meantime, e.g. by taking a note onto the end of the Abstract or similar.


Yikes! Another standard feature of OCS 1 that didn't make it into version 2. How can I explain this to my clients?

I would appreciate a summary/prediction of how this will be addressed in version 2.1, so that whatever customization I do to accommodate my clients' needs will be compatible with the new version.

Hi tshore,

The Bugzilla entry contains the best description of how this will work in OCS 2.1; the available types will likely be stored as a scheduled conference setting in the sched_conf_settings table in a data structure of nested arrays (similar to the submission checklist setting).

It will be difficult to ensure that any customizations you make will still work in the upgraded code, but if you store your own changes as a .diff along with notes about each change, and make sure to back up the database and installation files, it'll be easy to check each when the upgrade has completed. OCS 2.2 will be a fairly major upgrade with large amounts of new code.
