When we use the DOAJ plug-in to export article metadata for inclusion in DOAJ, the article date in the XML is the date of actual publishing in OJS.
While this is not too bad for new articles, it is meaningless for archive articles. We have journals now retroactively publishing in OJS articles that were othewise published in the 1990's and 1980's, but being dated 2011 in exported metadata. This also seems to happen with OAI-PMH-harvesting.
We sorely need a fix that uses the dating of the issue of the article in order to create the article metadata for export to DOAJ, and would also like someone to look at this for the OAI-PMH-harvesting functionality, too.
It seems that other export plug-ins use the same kind of logic, but we are not able to test them all in a meaningful way.
Using Open Journal Systems 2.3.1.2.
