Forum rules
This forum is meant for general questions about the usability of OJS from an everyday user's perspective: journal managers, authors, and editors are welcome to post questions here, as are librarians and other support staff. We welcome general questions about the role of OJS and how the workflow works, as well as specific function- or user-related questions.

What to do if you have general, workflow or usability questions about OJS:

1. Read the documentation. We've written documentation to cover from OJS basics to system administration and code development, and we encourage you to read it.

2. take a look at the tutorials. We will continue to add tutorials covering OJS basics as time goes on.

3. Post a question. Questions are always welcome here, but if it's a technical question you should probably post to the OJS Technical Support subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Submission acknowledgement email

The submission acknowledgement email template has the Sender field empty. As a result, the email sent to the author after article submission does not look professional. Can the sender field in the email template be edited and changed to include for example Editor as a sender?
And another question related to submission acknowledgement email is: the subjet line of this email contains square brackets at the beginning. Could they be removed?

The prepared e-mail template for the submission acknowledgment e-mail is set up so that the subject line begins with the journal's initials inside of the brackets. To my knowledge there is no way to change this. The remainder of the subject line is able to be edited in the prepared e-mails section of the journal management pages.

The sender field is populated with the journal's principal contact as it is entered in Step 1 of the Setup in the Journal Management pages. So, any change to what is entered as the principal contact will also change who is listed as the "sender" of the submission acknowledgment.

All best,
