Placement of the 'Bio statement'

Placement of the 'Bio statement'

Hello all,

We've just updated OJS to 2.3.6 - and one of our journals is experiencing a problem with the 'bio statement' (or 'author bio').

In the former version of OJS the bio statement was featured after the abstract of each article. Now it's disappeard - but by adjusting 'Setup' - 'The Look' - '5.6 The Journal Layout' we can again place the bio statment in the right or the left sidebar.

However, the journal wants the bio statement to be placed along the abstract - just like it was before the update of the OJS version.

Can anyone tell me how to do that? And what is causing this problem?

Hi Claus,

Hrm, I hadn't realized the bio statement had moved from the abstract entirely. You can re-add this information by modifying one of the system templates, but you'll have to track the change so that whenever you upgrade the change won't be destroyed. You can see how the information is displayed in the author bio block in the sidebar by looking at plugins/blocks/authorBios/block.tpl, and you should be able to extract the relevant code from that tpl file and add it to templates/article/article.tpl. Note, though, that you'll want to do it in such a way as to display the correct author information for each author, separately.
