Forum rules
This forum is meant for general questions about the usability of OJS from an everyday user's perspective: journal managers, authors, and editors are welcome to post questions here, as are librarians and other support staff. We welcome general questions about the role of OJS and how the workflow works, as well as specific function- or user-related questions.

What to do if you have general, workflow or usability questions about OJS:

1. Read the documentation. We've written documentation to cover from OJS basics to system administration and code development, and we encourage you to read it.

2. take a look at the tutorials. We will continue to add tutorials covering OJS basics as time goes on.

3. Post a question. Questions are always welcome here, but if it's a technical question you should probably post to the OJS Technical Support subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Disabling users

I recently went through our subscribers list and discovered that several of the subscriptiosn have expired. I deleted the subscription and then disabled the users in user management ...and provided each user with a message.

I also had a sample account and went ahead and deleted that subscription and disabled the sample user too...then I logged in as the sample user...and I still have full access to everything with no 'resusbscribe message'. The users are now listed as being disabled in the backend.

What can I do?

Hi Kris,

Can you verify that the sample account is disabled? Managers sometimes confuse the "remove" feature with the "disable" feature; you can tell if an account is disabled because there is an "Enable" link next to it.

Yes, they are listed as disabled and if I check the database, they are 'disabled' there too. :?

Hi Kris,

And you're still able to log in using the disabled account? Very odd... Please contact me at pkp-support@sfu.ca with details on your journal and I'll investigate further.
