Forum rules
This forum is meant for general questions about the usability of OJS from an everyday user's perspective: journal managers, authors, and editors are welcome to post questions here, as are librarians and other support staff. We welcome general questions about the role of OJS and how the workflow works, as well as specific function- or user-related questions.
What to do if you have general, workflow or usability questions about OJS:1.
Read the documentation. We've written documentation to cover from OJS basics to system administration and code development, and we encourage you to read it.
2.
take a look at the tutorials. We will continue to add tutorials covering OJS basics as time goes on.
3.
Post a question. Questions are always welcome here, but if it's a technical question you should probably post to the
OJS Technical Support subforum; if you have a development question, try the
OJS Development subforum.

Hello,
Our Journal is changing its sponsoring organisation. This means that it will adopt a new domain name (not that of the new sponsor) and as Administrator and Journal Manager I need to change my email address (which is also the 'bounce' address for any undelivered emails generated by the website), to harmonise with the domain name email addresses of the new sponsor.
Please can you advise if there are any pitfalls to watch out for and avoid, or any practical tips that would make this process any less error prone. We are also about to upgrade from 2.2.1 to the latest OJS version - would you recommend we do the domain name and email changes before, after, or at more or less the same time as the upgrade?
Many thanks,
Janer

Hi Janer,
It's probably best to change the domain name and email addresses, etc., first; ensure that everything looks good; and then upgrade the database. After each step you will want to go through the Journal Setup pages to ensure that all information is as it should be. When you change domain names, you will have to go through your config.inc.php file and ensure that all values are as they should be. There's a lot of information on migrating OJS on the forum that would be of value here, as some particulars are the same. And of course, ensure that you have backups before completing any process, and read the documentation carefully. docs/UPGRADE will be of particular help.
Cheers,
James
