Various questions

Hello,

I have several questions (from a journal) that I am not able to answer. Could you please help?
Here the questions:
1. Is it possible to have a subscriptions with no end date?
2. How is the subscription type checkbox/option "Subscribers must be members of an association or organization." used, i.e. how is this possibility to access the content by members of an association correctly used/configured?
3. Which e-mail templates are automatically sent by the system and when?
4. Some e-mail templates can not be deactivated. When are they sent?
5. There is a possibility to create new e-mail templates. How can these new created e-mail templates be used?
6. Do readers/users have to be logged in to buy an article?
7. Which URL should be given to PayPal (for IPN)?

Hi swing,

1. Is it possible to have a subscriptions with no end date?

Yes, but you'll need a new release of OJS. You can configure this for each subscription type.

2. How is the subscription type checkbox/option "Subscribers must be members of an association or organization." used, i.e. how is this possibility to access the content by members of an association correctly used/configured?

This will require the Journal Manager/Subscription Manager and users to who buy subscriptions online to enter information (e.g. a code, a membership #, etc.) into the membership field for the subscription.

3. Which e-mail templates are automatically sent by the system and when?

You can read the content of existing email templates to get a sense of when/where they are used. Please see the documentation and settings to see which automatic emails can be turned on/off during editorial workflows.

5. There is a possibility to create new e-mail templates. How can these new created e-mail templates be used?

You can click on the mail icon for the email template to use the new template and send an email.


6. Do readers/users have to be logged in to buy an article?

Yes.

7. Which URL should be given to PayPal (for IPN)?

Thanks a lot for your answers!
When using PayPal + IPN, PayPal wants you to enter the (OJS) URL where the IPNs are sent. Which URL is this? Something like .../payment/plugin/Paypal/ipn?

Hi swing,

You can leave the Notification URL blank in your PayPal IPN settings. Just ensure IPN is enabled.
