Remove an issue

Are you an Editor, Author, or Journal Manager in need of help? Want to talk to us about workflow issues? This is your forum.

Forum rules
This forum is meant for general questions about the usability of OJS from an everyday user's perspective: journal managers, authors, and editors are welcome to post questions here, as are librarians and other support staff. We welcome general questions about the role of OJS and how the workflow works, as well as specific function- or user-related questions.

What to do if you have general, workflow or usability questions about OJS:

1. Read the documentation. We've written documentation to cover from OJS basics to system administration and code development, and we encourage you to read it.

2. take a look at the tutorials. We will continue to add tutorials covering OJS basics as time goes on.

3. Post a question. Questions are always welcome here, but if it's a technical question you should probably post to the OJS Technical Support subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

You must first remove all articles from the issue and then you will be able to delete the issue.

How can I delete/remove an article that is not yet published from the system, that is articles still on submission queue? I can't find any function for that in 1.1.7.

Decline the submission (or "archive" it, if it has already been accepted), and it will appear under the Submission Archive from where it can be deleted.

I have also created a test issue which has been published (the site is still not open to the public) however there seems to be no obvious way to delete an article or the whole issue. When I look in Archives I just get a link to the issue and the TOC is displayed. If I click on the article it just appears.

Am I looking in the right place?

Hi Chris,

To archive an article that has already been published:
  • Go into the Archive list as Editor
  • Click on the article title to display its "Editing" page
  • Go to the Summary page
  • Click the "Archive Submission" link
In the Archive list, it will now be possible to delete the article.

Thanks Alec, the test issue is now history. :D

I'm going to have to make a mental note of these steps for future reference.

best wishes,
