Hello everybody,
I would like to ask whether there exists a way to specify file types at submission, i.e. "Manuscript", "Cover letter", "Figure", "Supplementary material" etc.
Specifically, I would like to build a submission system that guides the author to submit (a) a cover letter, (b) PDF file and (c, optionally) supplementary files at the first submission, and (a) a cover letter, (b) a source file for the manuscript (either in Word or LaTeX), and optionally (c) source files for figures and (d) supplementary files for the final submission. Does the current OJS infrastructure supports such a scheme? I am using OJS 2.2.4.0.

You should be able to do something to that effect. During author submission, authors are asked to submit twice: they are asked to submit a main submission document (article manuscript); and are then allowed to upload supplementary files. They can upload as many supplementary files as they want, but only one main file. Editors can request revisions from an author during the review process, which could be adapted to act more as a a request for further files.
You could always describe in your Author Guidelines exactly what steps to follow, ie. that authors must submit x files during the first round of submission (the manuscript as the official submission file, and cover letter etc. as supplementary files); and that the Editor will contact them when it is time to submit more files.
You may want to change some of the template language to accomplish some of this. Two plugins in particular might be of use here -- the Translator plugin, and the Custom Locale plugin. Both are located in Journal Management -> System Plugins -> Generic Plugins.

Similar to the first post of this thread, I have to modify the submission process in order to specify file types at submission and also make it mandatory.
The difference is that I should break the file upload section into 4 parts, so the authors have to upload a file in each section before finishing the submission process.
What I have in mind is to upload the main article in step 2, and upload the other 3 mandatory files in step 4.
How can I duplicate the file upload section in step 4 without the need to modify the database or the MySQL queries?
This way, there is no need to the EDITpage (step 4a) anymore, because the most important field of this page is the file type, that has already been defined in step 4. How can I skip this page?
