This forum is meant for general questions about the usability of OJS from an everyday user's perspective: journal managers, authors, and editors are welcome to post questions here, as are librarians and other support staff. We welcome general questions about the role of OJS and how the workflow works, as well as specific function- or user-related questions. What to do if you have general, workflow or usability questions about OJS:
1. Read the documentation
. We've written documentation to cover from OJS basics to system administration and code development, and we encourage you to read it.
2. take a look at the tutorials
. We will continue to add tutorials covering OJS basics as time goes on.
3. Post a question
. Questions are always welcome here, but if it's a technical question you should probably post to the OJS Technical Support
subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development
I'm setting up ojs 2.01 and trying to run through the submission process to test the system. I have a user registered as an author, a section editor assigned to the section. The author submits a manuscript through the five steps and receives acknowledgement that the article is awaiting assignment. E-mail of thanks goes out to the author.
When I log author out and log back in as section manager, there are no submissions awaiting assignment. Submissions just disappear without a trace. OJS is writing to the my journal_files directory, so I know it's not a permissions problem (is it?).
I'm stumped and don't know how to troubleshoot in the absence of error messages. Any help much appreciated.

I've been trying to read the documentation before posting questions, but I'm finding solutions after asking. My apologies. I added an journal editor who can now see the submissions.
