This forum is meant for general questions about the usability of OJS from an everyday user's perspective: journal managers, authors, and editors are welcome to post questions here, as are librarians and other support staff. We welcome general questions about the role of OJS and how the workflow works, as well as specific function- or user-related questions.

What to do if you have general, workflow or usability questions about OJS:

1. Read the documentation. We've written documentation to cover from OJS basics to system administration and code development, and we encourage you to read it.

2. take a look at the tutorials. We will continue to add tutorials covering OJS basics as time goes on.

3. Post a question. Questions are always welcome here, but if it's a technical question you should probably post to the OJS Technical Support subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

I would like to create issue specific sections associated with 'special issues' For example we might want to have the normal articles section and then a section of papers that deal with a one off specific topic. But I do not want these special issues to clog up the submission type list. Is there an esay way to do this?

Would it be possible to create a section assign articles to it, publish the issue and then delete the section? Whould this delete the appearance of the section in the published journal?

Does anyone have any deas on this one?

Deleting a section would not work, as articles in that section would have to be reassigned to a different section.

I think the "Items can only be submitted by Editors and Section Editors" option for sections is the closest thing in the current system to what you're asking for. If this option is enabled the section will only be visible to editors and section editors, and not to "regular" authors.

If that does not meet your needs, feel free to submit a more specific feature request for consideration.

Thanks Kevin,

While it would be good to have different sub-headings your suggestion works perfetly well for now.

However, would it be an easy change to the code to make is so only the journal manager can see/submit to these sections rather than all editors?

regards
