Forum rules
This forum is meant for general questions about the usability of OJS from an everyday user's perspective: journal managers, authors, and editors are welcome to post questions here, as are librarians and other support staff. We welcome general questions about the role of OJS and how the workflow works, as well as specific function- or user-related questions.

What to do if you have general, workflow or usability questions about OJS:

1. Read the documentation. We've written documentation to cover from OJS basics to system administration and code development, and we encourage you to read it.

2. take a look at the tutorials. We will continue to add tutorials covering OJS basics as time goes on.

3. Post a question. Questions are always welcome here, but if it's a technical question you should probably post to the OJS Technical Support subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Recently, I started to work on a modified version of OJS 1.1.9/10, so that the application can be used for electronic theses and dissertations. It is just a sideline for now, so it will take a while. It should be able to handle hundreds of theses and dissertations each year. Is anyone planning to look into this too?

I have played with Virginia Tech's EDT application. This application is written in Perl. It is quite good, but it seems that after 1997, the year it was written, the development came to a virtual standstill. As far as I know, this is the only EDT software currently available. Customizing Virginia Tech's EDT software does not seem to be very easy.

[VT's EDT is at: http://etd.vt.edu/ and http://scholar.lib.vt.edu/theses/]

Thank you.

ETD Software

Postby ramon » Wed Jul 20, 2005 6:18 am

At Ibict, we developed an ETD software called TEDE, developed with PHP and MySQL. The site is in portuguese, and is being migrated to a new server, so the links may not all work.

There are 2 versions:
TEDE Modular - for Universities, providing a complete distribution of tasks through many actors (system admin, the postgraduate staff, students and library), each having a specific role and activities.

TEDE Simplificado - provides a publication system for a Library to publish ETDs without the involvement of all the actors.

Both versions are OAI-PMH compliant, since we are the National ETD Digital Library, called BDTD...

For more information, comments and suggestions, acces our specific forum at forum.ibict.br.

We'd appreciate any input as to security issues, bugs and the like in our software too.
