We welcome general questions about the role of OJS and how the workflow works, as well as specific function- or user-related questions.
What to do if you have general, workflow or usability questions about OJS:1.
Read the documentation. We've written documentation to cover from OJS basics to system administration and code development, and we encourage you to read it.
2.
take a look at the tutorials. We will continue to add tutorials covering OJS basics as time goes on.

I'm new to OJS but it looks fantastic what I have seen so far. Well done everyone involved.
One thing I'd like to ask being new to PHP as well, is if it is possible first to share login details/databases between OJS and OCS. But also with other PHP software - I'm think of shopping cart software (e.g. ZenCart) because I run an academic publishing firm and I'd like customers to be able to login once to access journals, order print journals and order printed books, not login for each different purchase/function.

Hi ant414,
Thanks for the kind words!
OJS ships with an LDAP plugin that can interoperate with an LDAP server to provide single sign-on functionality between applications; I'm not sure whether Zencart includes this functionality as well. Unfortunately, OCS doesn't currently ship with the LDAP plugin, although it's on the horizon hopefully soon (see
http://pkp.sfu.ca/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=2960).
OJS 2.2.1 also includes a Shibboleth plugin (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shibboleth_(Internet2)) although I have not used it and am not entirely sure how it works. If this is of interest at all, please let us know and one of the developers can describe it more fully.
Cheers,
James
