uploading backissues containing joint volumes

Postby achubaty » Sun Jul 13, 2014 6:22 pm

I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out a way to get joint volumes uploaded using OJS. We have several backissues that were published as joint volumes (e.g. vol 13 & 15), with no clear demarcation between the individual volumes. Furthermore, odd-numbered volumes are joined with odd, and even-numbered with even (e.g., 13&15, 14&16). When numbering volumes, OJS only allows a single number so I cannot find a good way to number these joint volumes. Ideally I want OJS to display the joint volume as "volume 13&15" or similar.

Any suggestions for accomplishing this? If avoidable, I don't want to upload the same back issue twice (e.g., one name vol 13 and the other vol 15); nor do I want to have an "empty" volume with a redirect.

Thank you.

Hi achubaty,

I'd suggest entering "Volume xx & yy" as the title, deselecting the "Volume" checkbox in the issue creation/edit form, and leaving the Volume field empty.

Thanks, this works well with the additional modification: leave the year filled in but uncheck the year box, and adding the year to the title. This gives me the following title:

"Vol XX & YY (YEAR): Title"

This matches the rest of the automatically numbered titles.
