Forum rules
This forum is meant for general questions about the usability of OJS from an everyday user's perspective: journal managers, authors, and editors are welcome to post questions here, as are librarians and other support staff. We welcome general questions about the role of OJS and how the workflow works, as well as specific function- or user-related questions.

What to do if you have general, workflow or usability questions about OJS:

1. Read the documentation. We've written documentation to cover from OJS basics to system administration and code development, and we encourage you to read it.

2. take a look at the tutorials. We will continue to add tutorials covering OJS basics as time goes on.

3. Post a question. Questions are always welcome here, but if it's a technical question you should probably post to the OJS Technical Support subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Can not found any journals

Postby ojsearch » Thu Jun 19, 2014 11:55 pm

Hello,

I made few journals with issues and articles, but then I try to search for any journal by title, abstract or any other option I never get any results,
even though filtering journals by alphabetical letters works just fine.
What can be causing this problem?

Hi ojsearch,

What version of OJS are you using? Can you share a URL?

Hello,

I am using the latest OJS version - 2.4.4-1.
Unfortunately the site is not available publicly yet, maybe there is any other information I could provide?

Hi ojsearch,

Are your journals enabled? As Site Administrator, go into the Hosted Journals list and ensure that the checkbox is checked on the "edit" form for each.

Hi,

yes all the checkboxes are checked.
I can see every journal on "Home" page, even search initial by letters works just fine.
But then I use module "JOURNAL CONTENT" I never get any results.

Hi ojsearch,

Are you searching for single-word content, or phrases? Does the content you're searching for include any accented characters? Is the content you're searching for published publicly, or still in progress in the workflow?

Hello,

I tried searching for single-word content and phrases no results in both cases.
Some content includes accented characters some don't, tried searching everywhere - no results.

Hi ojsearch,

Try running tools/rebuildSearchIndex.php via the command line. This will rebuild your search database. Generally it shouldn't be necessary but it'll help narrow down what's happening in your case.
