Forum rules
This forum is meant for general questions about the usability of OJS from an everyday user's perspective: journal managers, authors, and editors are welcome to post questions here, as are librarians and other support staff. We welcome general questions about the role of OJS and how the workflow works, as well as specific function- or user-related questions.

What to do if you have general, workflow or usability questions about OJS:

1. Read the documentation. We've written documentation to cover from OJS basics to system administration and code development, and we encourage you to read it.

2. take a look at the tutorials. We will continue to add tutorials covering OJS basics as time goes on.

3. Post a question. Questions are always welcome here, but if it's a technical question you should probably post to the OJS Technical Support subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Metadata harvesting without publication in OJS

Postby claudiot » Wed Sep 25, 2013 6:52 am

During the five steps setup procedure I've found at point 4.1 we can check the possibility of not publishing the journal content through OJS. I imagine it would be possible to have the same all content indexed for metadata harvesting in a file like http://www.foo.com/ojs/index.php/xxxx/oai. Is it correct?
Thanks in advance to whom may be of any help

Ok the content is harvested even if not published inside OJS, but bibliographic databases fetch url that are then presented to their users. Which url is presented if the original content has not been published?
To give you the context of my question my aim would be to build a journal, using a CMS different from OJS, may be with a good JSON Api (e.g. wordpress), that could be able to use the great functions that have been developed inside OJS, to connect to DOAJ, CrossRef, etc.
I've read the page in OJS wiki on the integration between Wordpress and OJS and I've got the feeling that there is a lot of code to rewrite (for example the OJS rest plugin doesn't work, etc.)

Hi claudiot,

If OJS is generating URLs for content, it'll generate OJS-style URLs, expecting that the content will be published in OJS as usual. Changing that behavior will affect a lot of areas of the system where those URLs are generated.
