Dear all,
Late in the day, I am catching up on all the good work you at the Public Knowledge Project have been doing with Lemon8.
Silvio Peroni and I are using our Semantic Publishing and Referencing (SPAR) Ontologies (
http://purl.org/spar/), written in OWL 2 DL, to convert the NLM DTD XML markup in Pubmed Central articles into RDF using an XSLT transformation. Since Lemon8 provides a path from word processor files to NLM DTD XML, its use together with our ontologies/XSLT could potentially provide a workflow straight from the word processor file to a semantically tagged RDF publication, which for us is a very exciting prospect. I thus have a couple of questions:
First, which /*version */of the NLM DTD does Lemon8 currently convert into? I could find no documentation of that on your web site, but this is particularly important if we are to take Lemon8 output as our input.
Second, does the Public Knowledge Project have any interest itself in semantic web technologies and RDF encoding?. Given your work in handling citation data, our Citation Typing Ontology
http://purl.org/spar/cito/) may be of particular interest to you.
It would be particularly helpful for our work if you were to send us (a link to) an exemplar Lemon8 XML output file for a published open access journal article for us to play with, ideally of a biomedical article that also appears in Pubmed Central.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
David
