This forum is meant for general questions about the usability of OCS from an everyday user's perspective: conference managers, presenters, and directors are welcome to post questions here, as are librarians and other support staff. We welcome general questions about the role of OCS and how the workflow works, as well as specific function- or user-related questions.

Usage of OJS for Journal Installing OJS

I am launching a new journal using OJS i wanted to know whether i will be required to do hosting at my end.ie will the server be formed at my end? or will i be accessing OJS to configure my journal from the end of scholarly exchange?

Your question is OJS related, but posted in the OCS forum.
The OxS Software suite, developed by PKP, is Open Source and free, which means you "own" the software once you start using it.
You WILL need a server to host the web application of your interest (OJS, in this case).
You can either:

- Buy your own server an plug it to your institutional network, adding a DNS address and install the necessary software
- Hire an external hosting server, with all the base technology installed, but where you will have to install AND probably maintain the software yourself
- Hire PKP or other similar institution that provides specific OxS installation and support.
