Registration types vs. registration options

We are using the registrations mechanism of the OCS for the first time. We are running version 2.3.3.1. I am uncertain of how to structure the registration types/options. Here is what we are doing:

The event consists of: (1) a one-day pre-conference set of (a) tutorials and (b) day-long special session (DAY 1); and (2) two days of conference (DAYS 2 & 3). People can register for:

• Either the day-long set of tutorials or the day-long special session on DAY 1 only (i.e., they don't have to do DAY 2 & 3); OR
• The two days of the conference only; OR
• All three days.

There is a day rate for DAY 1 and a conference rate for DAYS 2 & 3. People doing all three days simply pay the combined rates (DAY 1 + DAY 2-3).

So, my question is should I simply create a day registration type and a conference registration type? Technically, can a registrant wanting to do all three days select both the day option and the conference option. Or is there a more rational way to do this using some combination of registration types and registration options?

I think the best approach would be to create two registration types:

Reg Type 1 = Conference Days 2 + 3 (price = $$$)
Reg Type 2 = Preconference Only (price = free)

and then two registration options:

Reg option 1 = pre-con tut (price = $$$)
Reg option 2 = pre-con sess (price = $$$)

People could then, for example, pick reg type 2 (no charge) along with reg option 1 (tutorial price). Alternatively, they could choose reg type 1 and one of the pre-conference reg options.
