How to run a program committee meeting via OCS?

Are you a Director, Presenter, Reviewer or Conference Manager in need of help? Want to talk to us about workflow issues? This is your forum.

Forum rules
This forum is meant for general questions about the usability of OCS from an everyday user's perspective: conference managers, presenters, and directors are welcome to post questions here, as are librarians and other support staff. We welcome general questions about the role of OCS and how the workflow works, as well as specific function- or user-related questions.

What to do if you have general, workflow or usability questions about OCS:

1. Read the documentation. We've written documentation to cover from OCS basics to system administration and code development, and we encourage you to read it.

2. take a look at the tutorials. We will continue to add tutorials covering OCS basics as time goes on.

3. Post a question. Questions are always welcome here, but if it's a technical question you should probably post to the OCS Technical Support subforum; if you have a development question, try the OCS Development subforum.

How to run a program committee meeting via OCS?

We are using OCS for an upcoming workshop. We have scheduled a conference call with the Program Committee to discuss the workshop program, and decide collectively which proposals will make the final cut. All committee members will be online, and looking at the submissions via OCS.

However, some on the committee have also submitted proposals. If all committee members are Directors, they can see all submissions, which is convenient for running this meeting. However, they will then be able to see comments on their own submission, which is not desirable. Is there a function that blocks a submitter with director access from seeing their own submission? The only other solution I can think of is to individually assign each submission (there are about 50) to each committee member, excepting of course their own submission. As there are 8 committee members, this will be very time consuming. Is there a more efficient way to deal with this problem? Thanks!

Hi Kate,

Unfortunately, there is no way currently to selectively limit Director access to proposals. The existing and fastest solution would be to downgrade any Directors who have submitted to the conference to the the role of Track Director (you don't have to do this for all Directors; just those involved); and then assign all submissions to them. I believe this is essentially what you have outlined, and I'm afraid that there's just no way to do this faster at the moment.
