Forum rules
This forum is meant for general questions about the usability of OCS from an everyday user's perspective: conference managers, presenters, and directors are welcome to post questions here, as are librarians and other support staff. We welcome general questions about the role of OCS and how the workflow works, as well as specific function- or user-related questions.

What to do if you have general, workflow or usability questions about OCS:

1. Read the documentation. We've written documentation to cover from OCS basics to system administration and code development, and we encourage you to read it.

2. take a look at the tutorials. We will continue to add tutorials covering OCS basics as time goes on.

3. Post a question. Questions are always welcome here, but if it's a technical question you should probably post to the OCS Technical Support subforum; if you have a development question, try the OCS Development subforum.

Problem with Galley Upload

Postby gudwin » Tue Sep 22, 2009 3:44 pm

Hi,
I am running an OCS site, using ocs-2.1.1-2 in a Linux platform (Kubuntu Jaunty). The conference already finished, and now I want to upload the audio files for the presentations in the site. Logging in as a Director, I go to the Director Home and select Submissions->Presentations, and then click on the desired presentation. There appears to me the Review Page for the submission, and at the Layout session, I try to upload a file to the Galley. The problem is that my mp3 files for the audio are very large (~80MB), and apparently they are not being uploaded. After I press Upload, the system apparently tries to upload, but gives up after some time and returns back to the Director Home, without making any upload.
What should I do ? Is there a way of manually uploading the file to the server, and registering it later to integrate it in OCS ?

Hi Ricardo,

You have a couple of options: you could change your server's max upload time/max upload filesize parameters (probably the best way), or you could try uploading a small dummy mp3 file, and then overwriting that file via FTP after (the cheating, slightly easier way, but more of a hassle). More info here.

Cheers,
James
