Hello PKPers,
How are plans to include LinkedData and Semantic Web solutions into PKP Software?
The
Semantic Web Dog Food is a website that lists and provides data on conferences, papers and everything related using LinkedData, Semantic Web and Ontologies.
LinkedData and Semantic Web would allow us to integrate more easily other applications and information available on the Web.
The whole idea is to turn regular websites into open databases, that can be related through specific ontologies and markup (RDFa, RDFs, for example).
This would be interesting or Reviewer and researcher databases, integration of user profiles and information, as well as automation of data "export" features, allowing faster and more reliable indexing.
However, it will require reworking some of the markup, or develop specific plugins to generate URIs for each type of resource to export.
It's not as easy as it sounds, but it would generate more impact and visibility, as well as allow detecting and developing relationships between information available in conferences, journals, disciplines, authors, institutions, etc...
