We are trying to determine if the PKP harvester can identify an EAD file as an EAD file (vs. an image or other file type) by the "doctype" and/or other header information in the XML. Or, do we need a separate DC.type=”ead” (or DC.format=”ead”) field?

Hi gregvogl,
The Harvester doesn't do anything in particular with MIME types it picks up in DC data -- depending on what specifically you'd like it to do, you can probably accomplish it with a fairly simple modification to the Dublin Core record display template.

Hi gregvogl,
Just to follow on Alec's comment -- what are you looking to do specifically with EAD records? At present, EAD isn't one of the schemas that the Harvester supports natively (since OAI defaults to Dublin Core), so I'm curious if you're trying to harvest EAD records from OAI or something else. I've done some work with importing and exporting EAD with another tool (
http://qubit-toolkit.org/) but if you can explain a little more what you're trying to do, we may be able to comment better.
